The Board of Aldermen met in regular session on October 29, 2020 at the Browning Community Building due to Covid-19 restrictions with the following officials present: City Clerk DeEtta Jones, Alderman Tod Sparks, Alderman Rob Wood and Alderwoman Jackie Flummer with Mayor Dean Spencer presiding. Also present was maintenance Kelly Jones. Alderman Gooch and Fire Chief Jesse Young absent.
Mayor Spencer called the meeting to order.
City Clerk DeEtta Jones took roll call.
City Clerk Jones read the minutes from September 2020 regular meeting. Alderman Sparks made a motion to approve the minutes as read. Alderwoman Flummer 2nd the motion. Alderman Wood in favor.
Mayor Spencer reminded council that city hydrants would need to be flushed in October.
Clerk Jones reported the basketball stencil kit was ordered and has been delivered. Council recommends to postpone painting basketball court till next spring.
Mayor Spencer reminded council that water meter wells still need to be replaced. Mayor Spencer to make contact with Jamie Floyd about getting wells replaced for Rinehart, Wood, and Couch.
Mayor Spencer explained to the city council that Linn County Sheriff department had expressed interest in purchasing the police car. A brief discussion was held.
Mayor Spencer explained he had spoken to Rapid Removal regarding the dumpster fire. Issue has been resolved.
Clerk Jones reviewed all city accounts.
Clerk Jones reviewed status of water customers and delinquent accounts, including shut offs.
Alderman Sparks approached the council on behalf of the city fire department. Alderman Sparks to look into ordering a nozzle. A discussion was held on the necessity of the city to maintain two city fire trucks. A discussion was held on the need to obtain a mutual aid agreement with the rural fire department. Council has elected to table this issue till later time.
Alderman Sparks made a motion to approve bills. Alderwoman Flummer 2nd the motion. Alderman Wood voted yes.
Alderwoman Flummer made a motion to adjourn. Alderman Sparks 2nd the motion. Alderman Wood yes. Meeting adjourned at 6:12pm.
