November 16, 2020 – The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Milan, Missouri met for a regular meeting at the Milan City Hall, 212 E. 2nd Street, on November 16, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. with the following Aldermen present: Steve Hill, Randy McCollum, Trudy Schnelle, Richard Head and Lesa Smith. Also present: Mayor Andy Herington, City Clerk Lisa Sharp, City Administrator Fred Ventresco and Nancy Watt. Absent: Alderman Rebecca Bennett.
Motion by Smith, seconded by McCollum to approve the minutes. Vote: Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes.
Motion by Head, seconded by Smith to approve the bills. Discussion followed. Vote: McCollum – abstains, Schnelle – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Schnelle to approve purchasing gift cards from Richardson’s Supermarket for employees. Vote: Schnelle – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes, McCollum – yes.
Motion by Hill, seconded by McCollum to donate $1,500 to the Christmas kickoff and pay the year end budgeted amount of $3,750 to the Sullivan County Community Development. Vote: Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes.
Motion by Schnelle, seconded by Head to enter into closed session pursuant to the hiring, firing, discipling or promotion of personnel for the City of Milan, Missouri exemption in Section 610.021(3). Vote: Smith – yes, Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Head – yes.
Motion by McCollum, seconded by Schnelle to adjourn closed session and return to open session. Vote: Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes.
Discussion was held concerning the Christmas kickoff event and other large gatherings in the Community Building due to the increased cases of covid-19. Administrator Ventresco was directed to check with the Health Department on their recommendations for this event.
Administrator Ventresco updated the Mayor and Board of Alderman about various meetings that he recently attended.
Motion by Schnelle, seconded by McCollum to adjourn. Vote: McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes.
