 MONTY L. FORD 

Monty L. Ford, 78, Pontiac, Illinois, died at 7:59 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2020 at Good Samaritan Home, Pontiac. 

Monty was born March 1, 1942 in Reger, Missouri, the son of Thomas and Lorene Stevenson Ford. 

He married Charlotte Farsky June 3, 1976 in Joliet. She survives in Pontiac. 

Also surviving are his children: Tracy Ford, Arizona, Bob (Beth) Zega, Naperville, Polly Hofreiter, Cardiff, California, David (Deb) Zega, Pontiac, and Jill Mezzanotti, San Diego, California; one brother: Tom (Janet) Ford Jr., Milan, Missouri; two sisters: Edith Hensley, Kansas City, Missouri, and Jenny Fields, Milan, Missouri; his grandchildren: Bryce Rooney, Sarah Zega, Charlie Zega, Margaret Zega, Eric Zega, Nicolas Mezzanotti, Eleanor Zega, Frankie Hofreiter and Kyle Mezzanotti. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Molly Ford; one brother, Jim Ford; two brothers-in-law, Dwayne Hensley and John Fields; and one sister-in-law, Nancy Ford. 

Monty attended Milan High School and graduated with the Class of 1959. After high school, Monty attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Missouri. 

He then moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked as an office manager the next eight years. Monty then became an ice rink manager. During his tenure he coached amateur and high school teams. He was the Ice Rink Manager at Saint Spectrum Ice Arena and for Oaklawn Park District. He coached the Ice Hockey Jets, Saints, and Shields. He won many state titles and was instrumental in players making it to the NHL. This is where he met the love of his life Charlotte and married her in June 1976. 

In 1978 Monty and Charlotte purchased Evening Star Camping Resort and RV sales. Together they enjoyed ice skating, golfing, fishing, swimming. He loved to boat at the Lake of the Ozark. He loved to entertain family, friends and had a welcoming smile always. 

A Celebration of life will be held in Milan in the Spring of 2021. 

A graveside service was held on Friday, December 18th, 2020, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Evergreen Park. 

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 16th, 2020, at Duffy- Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac. 

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
