Milan City Council Meeting Minutes
REGULAR MEETING
February 16, 2021 – The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Milan, Missouri met for a regular meeting at the Milan City Hall, 212 E. 2nd Street, on February 16, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. with the following Aldermen present: Steve Hill, Randy McCollum, Trudy Schnelle, Rebecca Bennett, Richard Head and Lesa Smith. Also present: Mayor Andy Herington, City Clerk Lisa Sharp, City Administrator Fred Ventresco, Nancy Watt, Milan Recreation Association – Leah Sayre and Lane Thurlo.
Motion by Schnelle, seconded by Bennett to approve the minutes. Vote: Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Bennett – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes.
Motion by Smith, seconded by Hill to approve the bills. Discussion followed. Vote: McCollum – abstains, Schnelle – yes, Bennett – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes.
Members of the Milan Recreation Association met with the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to discuss the Summer Recreation program and to request reimbursement for supplies. Motion by McCollum, seconded by Schnelle to approve the football reimbursement that was requested. Vote: Schnelle – yes, Bennett – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes, McCollum – yes.
Mayor Herington proclaimed Milan as a PURPLE HEART CITY recognizing all military veterans who have made significant sacrifices in defense of our freedom and liberty. Milan will have signs at the edge of town recognizing Milan as a Purple Heart City.
Discussion was held about NEMR fiber optic.
Discussion was held about needing a new server for city hall. Consensus of the board is to order the new one.
Motion by Hill, seconded by Smith to approve the pay estimate # 5 for R & L Boone for the lift station project. Vote: Bennett – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes.
Discussion was held about repairs that are needed for the Dodge Charger. Consensus of the board is to proceed with the repairs.
Discussion was held about several operational issues. No action was taken.
Motion by Schnelle, seconded by McCollum to adjourn. Vote: Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Bennett – yes.
SPECIAL MEETING
February 22, 2021 – The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Milan, Missouri met for a special meeting at the Milan City Hall, 212 E. 2nd Street, on February 22, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. with the following Aldermen present: Steve Hill, Randy McCollum, Trudy Schnelle, Rebecca Bennett, Richard Head and Lesa Smith. Also present: Mayor Andy Herington, City Clerk Lisa Sharp, City Administrator Fred Ventresco, Nancy Watt, USDI – Anthony Everette and Ed Moss.
Mayor Herington called the meeting to order for the gas discussion. Discussion was held about the pressure/supply issue.
Motion by Schnelle, seconded by McCollum to enter into closed session pursuant to legal action, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body of the City of Milan, Missouri exemption in Section 610.021(1). Vote: Hill – yes, McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Bennett – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes.
Motion by Bennett, seconded by Head to adjourn closed session and return to open session. Vote: McCollum – yes, Schnelle – yes, Bennett – yes, Head – yes, Smith – yes, Hill – yes.
