The Board of Directors for Lewis County REC has hired Shawn Walling to be the next CEO/General Manager for the Cooperative. Shawn comes to Lewis County REC from Lee County Electric Cooperative in Florida, where he served as Manager of Substations, Communications, and Metering. Shawn received his Engineering Degrees from the University of Arkansas and his MBA from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. His 20-year work experience has included working in Generation, Transmission, and Distribution. Most of his career has been spent working for Electric Cooperatives in Arkansas, Florida, and Oklahoma. Shawn was raised in Salem, Arkansas, where his father and grandfather also worked in the Electric Cooperative system.
Shawn brings his wife, Shelly, and daughter Madison with him to Lewis County REC’s service territory. They also have four adult children, one Marine, three Airmen, and a son-in-law who is also an Airman. Shelly is a Registered Nurse who has worked in the ER, ICU, Hospice, and Home Health.
When asked about the new position, “My family and I are very excited to be back in a rural area. We look forward to getting involved in the community Lewis County REC serves. I am very happy to be joining an organization that provides electricity to its Members. Together with the employees at Lewis County REC, we will continue to execute the mission to provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy to meet the needs of our member/owners.”
