JACKIE DELANE GRAY
Jackie DeLane Gray, son of Emery E. and Myrtie M. Stephenson Gray, was born in Linn County Missouri, January 9th,1938 and passed August 6th, 2021 at home in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Jack attended school in Browning, Missouri and graduated with the Class of 1955 from Liberty High School.
He married Evelyn A. Parrish, on January 15th,1960 in Raytown, Missouri and celebrated 61 years in January 2021. In October 1960 Jack enlisted, serving 6 months Active-Duty Reserves, from January 1961 until July 1961 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1966. Jack was baptized at an early age in Chillicothe, Missouri and was an active member of the church of Christ in Blue Springs. His favorite Bible book to read from being Ecclesiastes.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, five grandsons, seven granddaughters, a grandson-in-law and 2 great grandsons. They are Eric and Selinda A. Webb Ramsey, (Joshua/ Jacquelyne Webb North, great grandsons Lucas and Grayson North, Spenser, Sydney and Veronica Webb) Brad and Nancee D. Rankin (Jordan, Chelsie, Dylan and Isabella Rankin) and Lance and Julee K. Meiners (Hailee, Kellee, Nathan and Lauree Meiners).
Jack retired from Lucent Technologies, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. As a young man he played underhand softball, enjoyed hunting morel mushrooms, quail hunting with his bird dogs, attending auctions, listening to country music, following local sports teams and playing card games with friends and family. Jack was a faithful member of the Blue Springs church of Christ serving in many capacities. He and Evelyn enjoyed traveling after retirement. They traveled all 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska during the late 1990’s. Driving the Alaskan Highway was a highlight of Jack’s travels.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert DeVane Gray/surviving Mary Gray, George (Pete) DeVon and Betty L Gray of Browning, Missouri and Emery (Shorty) E. Gray/ Surviving Sylvia Gray of Elkins, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by two nephews and a niece but survived by many Gray nephews/ nieces and grand-nephews/nieces.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2021 at Blue Springs Church of Christ, 314 N.E. R.D. Mize Rd. Blue Springs, Missouri. Graveside services at Plainview Cemetery of Sullivan County (State Hwy BB/ Jester Rd.) will follow at 3:30 pm.
