Top seeded Green City took an 18-10 lead over Atlanta during the girl’s championship game of the 2021 Novinger Tournament. The top seeded Lady Gophers forged a 28- 15 edge in the third quarter and went on to a 39-28 victory.
“It’s a lot of fun to get in a tournament and see where you are in the early season,” Green City coach Cody Moore said. “Overall, we are a tale of two teams. We usually shoot the ball. Tonight, we struggled to shoot the ball well.”
“I liked how we stayed together as a team. We worked together,” Cody Moore said. “We had a lot of different girls step up throughout the tournament. We didn’t put it all on one girl’s shoulders. We kind of spread the load out.”
“I think that was the thing I enjoyed seeing in this tournament.”
Kylie Magers led all scorers with 14 Atlanta points. Lillyann McCabe led Green City with ten points. Celeste Athon scored seven points. Lily Helton put in six points. Maddie Lunsford added five Lady Gopher points.
