FRANCES ELAINE NICKELL
Frances Elaine (Christy) Nickell, age 82, of Liberty, Missouri, formerly of Browning, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Our Lady of Mercy County Home in Liberty.
The daughter of Jay and Dorothy (Linhart) Christy, she was born December 3, 1939.
On November 15 1958, she married Kenneth Nickell and to this marriage their three daughters were born, Elaina, Sherry, and Diana.
Survivors include her daughters and husbands, Elaina and Rob Head of Browning, Sherry and Roger Foster of Camdenton, and Diana and Gary Rhoades of Liberty. Five grandchildren, Dyrek and Shelby Head of Olathe, Charity Perez of Kearney, Cassandra and Caleb Hopkins of Liberty, Shanna and Matt Gummig of Liberty, Jaron and Angie Foster of Eldon. Great grandchildren, Kendall Pham, Macie and Braxton Head, Emma and Jackson Perez, Luke Hicks, Corbin and Colden Hopkins, Penny, Peter, and June Gummig. Brothers Marvin (Mary), and Roy Christy, sisters Evelyn Graham and Carol (Charles) Bennett and Sister-in-law Karolee Christy. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her parents, Jay and Dorothy Christy, Father and Mother-in-law, Ray and Eva Nickell, brothers Clinton and Eldon Christy, infant brothers James and David Christy, Sister-in-law Glenda Christy and Brother-in-law Bob Graham.
Frances was a member of the Browning Baptist Church. She accepted the Lord and was baptized in 1949. She was a member of the Baptist Women for several years and loved teaching Sunday School and Bible School classes to help the children learn about the Lord.
Frances graduated from Liberty High School in 1957. After graduating from high school, she worked for Dr. TR McArtor’s office, and also worked for the Milan Cleaners, Farmer’s Cash Store and in the kitchen at the Linn Co R-1 School.
After retiring, she worked with her husband farming and doing things around the farm. Frances most loved spending time with her daughters and their husbands, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having them in her home. She dearly loved her husband of 63 years. She will never forget the cherished memories and great times with family and friends. She loved working in the church – “The Lord sure blesses.”
A service for Frances will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, March 11, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Browning, Missouri. Burial will be held later at the Jenkins Cemetery. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan is handling arrangements.
