ROBERT MARION “BOB” CASTEEL

Robert Marion “Bob” Casteel, 58 years old, of Pollock, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his home outside of Pollock, Missouri, after an extended illness.

Bob was born September 9, 1963, in Unionville, Missouri to William Marion “Bill” and Doris (June Wood) Casteel. He married Kristi Howard and they later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents William and June Casteel, and sister Lori Ann Bascio.

Bob is survived by: His siblings, Carol Janeen Smith (Lyle), Daniel Casteel (Carmela), Rhonda Hollander, Jeri JoAnn Casteel, and James Nicholas Casteel; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bob and his family lived in the Southeast Iowa/northern Missouri area while he was growing up. He attended various community schools and graduated high school in 1981. Bob was a veteran. After receiving his high school diploma, he enlisted in the Army for four years. During that time, he completed law enforcement training and was assigned as a Military Policeman in Oakland, California. He received the good conduct medal, army service ribbon, overseas service ribbon, and driver’s badge. He was an M-16 rifle expert, hand grenade expert, and .45 caliber pistol expert. He was honorably discharged in 1986. After the Army, he worked for several years as a security guard for various local companies. After marrying Kristi, they lived in Pollock until their divorce. When Bob became disabled, he moved to a farm east of Pollock to live with his parents and helped his father with the operation of a salvage yard in Pollock. After his mother June passed away, he continued to live with his father Bill at the farm. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends whenever possible and would spend time with them and at the salvage yard with his dad. He loved spending time with his family during visits or at reunions. He was known throughout the Pollock community and will be remembered by all.

A “Celebration of Life” in honor of Bob and burial will be held at a later date. All friends and family will be invited to attend. Schoene- Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan handled the arrangements.
