In Loving Memory of Penny Sue Bennett

Columbia, Missouri – December 25, 2023

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Penny Sue Bennett, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. Penny, age 65, departed from this world on Monday, December 25, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born July 8, 1958, Penny was a woman of remarkable strength, kindness, and grace. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family and building a legacy of love and compassion. Penny was the cherished daughter of the late Howard Bennett and Joan Bennett who currently lives in Kearney, MO. The late Roger Losey and Ann Losey, who currently lives in Chillicothe, MO, instilled in her the values of resilience, generosity, and the importance of family.

A devoted mother, Penny leaves a legacy of warmth and caring. Her unconditional love was a guiding light that shaped the lives of her children: Jeremy, Josh, and Jordan Bennett; Brandi, Brian, and Robert Trenter. She reveled in the joys of motherhood, celebrating every milestone and supporting her children in their endeavors. Her wisdom, patience, and unwavering support were constants throughout their lives.

Penny was also a doting grandmother to many grandchildren whom she showered with affection, laughter, and invaluable life lessons. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories of her love will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Beyond her role as a mother and grandmother, Penny was a pillar of strength for her siblings, Peggy Sloane, Polly Applebury, Gina Parks, Tina May, Kara Bennett, Ryan and Tim Saap and the late Phyllis VanDeventer and Brian Saap. Her sense of family extended beyond blood as she touched the lives of many with her warmth and compassion.

Her friendships were a testament to her ability to connect with others profoundly. Penny had a knack for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Her love for life and the simple pleasures inspired all who knew her.

Penny was cared for by her close friend, Jammie Norman, for many years before her passing. Penny is survived at home by her long-time love, Bob Trenter.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Penny will be held on January 3, 2024, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan, MO. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 2 pm, and the funeral service will start at 2 pm the same day. Family and friends are invited to join in remembrance and support during this difficult time.

The family kindly requests donations to the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in place of flowers.

May Penny Sue Bennett rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever alive in the hearts of those touched by her love.
