Shirley Louise Swank, of Milan, peacefully passed Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Sullivan County Hospital in Milan, Missouri. 

Shirley was born July 8, 1935 in Sullivan County, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel and Lois Pearl (Roop) Snelling. 

She married Eldon Swank and together they raised three children. 

She is survived by her son, Steven (Shelly) Swank, Milan and daughter, Rhonda (Brad) Carter, Lake Ozark and Stan Glidewell son-in-law. 7 Grandchildren, Jerrid Glidewell, Brandon Glidewell, Jody Glidewell (Jennifer), Craig Swank (Jackie), Brandy Barnes (Perry), Chris Smith (Lisa), and John Smith (Jenny). Great grandchildren Marcus Glidewell, Macie Glidewell, Rhiannon Glidewell, Regan Glidewell, Alex Swank, Jaxson Swank, Trace Barnes, Troy Aldridge, Carlee Smith, Melaynie Smith, Hudson Smith, Carter Smith and Tori Rehagen (Sam) Great Great grandchildren Audrie McNear, and Beau Rehagen. 

She lived her entire life in the Milan area where she and Eldon farmed for many years. She graduated LPN nursing school in 1965 and worked several years for local nursing homes in the area. Later, she and Eldon owned and operated a cleaning business working for Alltel Telephone and Midwest Bank until her retirement. 

Shirley enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, celebrating holidays, shopping and trips to the lake. Shirley was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. 

Shirley had a passion for cooking and baking during the holiday season especially Halloween. She took pride in her Halloween display and large amounts of cookies and treats which the community enjoyed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eldon, daughter Cheryl Jean (Swank) Glidewell, 1 brother Everett Snelling, 3 sisters, Lorraine Harper, Enneth Ford and Avis Billman, brother in law, Richard Swank and niece, Linda White. 

A funeral service for Shirley was held Monday, January 8, 2024, at Ruschmeier- Smith Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri with Rolf Christen officiating. Burial followed at the Shatto Cemetery, West of Milan. Pallbearers were: Brandon Glidewell, Jerrid Glidewell, Jody Glidewell, John Smith, Chris Smith, Brandy Barnes, and Craig Swank. Honorary Pallbearers were: Leo Healy, Brian Swank, Earl McKee, and Stan Glidewell. 

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shatto Cemetery.
