Green City Boys Remain Unbeaten in Conference

Green City employed an effective full court pressure defense, winning their February 11, 2022 Tri-County Conference boys game at La Plata by an 85-52 final score. The Gophers improved to 17-6, 7-0 in the conference.
Green City sprang with an 11-2 lead when Zander Salas tossed in a home run ball with 5:01 to play in the first quarter. Green City led 23-7 after one period of play.
Kaden Johnson scored with 5:10 showing on the second quarter clock for a 36-12 lead. Brody Lunsford followed with a three. Asher Buggs-Tipton hit a three ball for a 48-19 lead with 50 ticks on the second quarter clock.
Grant O’Haver closed the first half with a buzzer beating bucket and a 50-24 Green City lead. Lee Mack pulled La Plata within a 66-35 score in the third quarter. Green City took a 76-37 edge to the fourth quarter.
Green City held a 23- 17 field goal advantage. The Gophers tossed in ten three pointers on the night to four La Plata long balls. La Plata was 6-8 at the free throw line during their Homecoming Game.
Green City was 5-15 from the free throw line. Brody Lunsford hit a Gopher three pointer for an 83-44 lead with 3:01 to play in the game.
Aaron Peavler led all scorers with 18 points. Zander Salas scored 16 points. Brody Lunsford and Asher Buggs-Tipton scored 12 points each. Grant O’Haver scored eight points. Laydon Fields fired in nine points. Kaden Hatcher scored eight and Kaden Johnson added two Green City points.
Cutter St. Clair scored 16 Bulldog points. Landyn Jones put in 15 points. Tucker Beautte was the third Bulldog in double figures with ten points. Neil Green scored four La Plata points. Lee Mack and Kaden Safely added two points each.
