The Milan Ladycats traveled to Memphis on Friday, February 18, 2022 to do battle with the Scotland County Lady Tigers. This would be the final contest for the regular season against the non-conference opponent, but a former rival in the old Tri Rivers Conference. The Ladycats lost to the Lady Tigers early in the season so this was a chance to redeem themselves.
However, the Ladycats suffered a crushing loss, 60-49 leading into District competition. The Ladycats finished the regular season with a super 20-6 record, were undefeated in the Eastern Division of the Grand Rivers Conference and were crowned the undisputed GRC Champions defeating the Western Division Winner, St. Joseph Christian.
The Ladycats will be the Number 1 seed in Class 3 District 16 being played at Trenton NCMC. The girls drew a first round bye, and scheduled to play the winner of South Harrison- Marceline matchup on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
The District Seed: #1-Milan, #2-Carrollton, #3-Trenton, #4-South Harrison, #5-Marceline, #6-Brookfield, and #7-Penney. Best of luck as the season begins. Winners advance, losers go home.
The Ladycats played a hard fought battle but came up short. Milan had a low offensive output in the second half, in particular the third quarter scoring only 5 points.
Cady paced Milan with 27 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, despite foul trouble; Auburn had 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals; Emerson 6 points, 1 rebound; Janissa 3 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal; Emma 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal; Avery Pickering 1 point, 6 rebounds, 1 steal; Gracie 2 rebounds; Amy Pickering 2 rebounds, 1 assist; Emily 1 rebound, 1 assist; Hallie Weaver 1 assist.
