The Sullivan County Senior Center launched a new program this year allowing donors to help the center feed seniors throughout the county. The City of Milan gave the first donation of $5,000 to the program earlier this week.
“Every year we have a deficit. Last year we had a deficit of (tens of thousands of dollars). It’s pretty substantial. We also had a huge number go on the delivery program,” said Rebecca Bennett, Administrator of the Sullivan County Senior Center. “The average cost (to operate the center) is about $275 a day. This will help us recoup our meal cost at the end of the year. Anyone can sponsor a day, a week, a month (or donate any amount). It helps us cover the rising cost of meals.”
The Sullivan County Senior Center is located in Milan. Donations can be made at the center or by calling the center at (660) 265- 3534.
