Meeting Minutes Summary
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Milan, Missouri, held their regular meeting on September 3, 2024. The meeting was attended by Mayor Andy Herington, City Clerk Lisa Sharp, City Administrator Crystal Bupp, and Wastewater Operator Jeremy Bennett. Aldermen Darin Tucker, Randy McCollum, Ed Reger, and Richard Head were present, while Aldermen Rebecca Bennett and Lesa Smith were absent.
The board approved both the previous meeting’s minutes and the payment of bills. Representatives from the Milan Elks, Mike Caldwell, Bruce Arnold, and Patty Foster, attended for the signing of a proclamation designating September 9-15 as National Patriotism Week.
Discussions took place regarding repairs needed for the city swimming pool, including a leak, a damaged liner, and the pump house needing updates. No action was taken until a cost estimate and financing options are determined. The certification process for lifeguards may also need revisions to meet insurance requirements.
The board unanimously approved a 5-year Water Distribution Plan and increased water nominations to 300,000 with the North Central Missouri Regional Water Commission. Additionally, the board discussed paving city right-of-way near the hospital’s emergency entrance to address gravel washouts, agreeing to proceed with the project.
City Administrator Bupp informed the board of a Missouri Main Street meeting scheduled for September 12 at the Milan Community Building.
The meeting adjourned without further discussion.
