Grundy Electric Cooperative’s Annual Membership Meeting was held August 7, 2025, at the Trenton High School in Trenton, Missouri. More than 200 members and guests attended the meeting, which featured key updates from cooperative leadership, financial reports, board elections, bylaw amendments, and prize drawings.
Prior to the business meeting, GEC Community Foundation President Cliff Addison and Foundation Trustee Tony Nelson presented fourth quarter grants to area schools totaling $7,880.
Grundy Electric Cooperative Director, Alan Guernsey, offered the invocation. Board President, Eric Woodard, opened the meeting by thanking members for their continued support and trust. President Woodard announced that the Board of Directors approved a capital credit refund of 100% for 1992 and 100% of the remaining 2023 capital credits totaling $ 186,564.78. Capital credit refunds will be credited to members’ October bills for current members and checks will be mailed to former members.
General Manager, Scott Wilson, thanked members for their commitment to the cooperative by attending their Annual Membership Meeting. Wilson discussed the delivery of reliable and affordable power through a diverse energy mix, technology development, and continued maintenance. Wilson also discussed the rate adjustment implemented this year, necessary to meet rising costs and increasing regulations; however, the cooperative will remain dedicated to providing exceptional service and delivering affordable electricity.
Key highlights from the meeting included:
·A financial report showing the 2024 Operations of the cooperative
·Operational updates including system upgrades, outage responses, and right-of-way maintenance
·Discussion of strategic priorities such as broadband expansion, RF metering system, and cybersecurity upgrades
·Communication updates including youth leadership events, career and safety presentations, and community support.
·Recognition of employees for years of service and dedication to the cooperative’s mission
Members elected two directors to serve a 3-year term. Re-elected were board incumbents: Eric Woodard of rural Trenton, representing Area 1; and Joe Hartley of rural Mercer, representing Area 4. Members voted in favor of two proposed Bylaw Amendment Propositions (1) to require a member’s primary residence to be served by Grundy Electric for 3 consecutive years prior to running for the board of directors and (2) to require a petition to run for the board to be submitted 75 days prior to Grundy Electric’s Annual Meeting.
The prize drawing included six $200 electric bill credits, gift baskets, and prize items.
Grundy Electric Cooperative directors held a re-organizational meeting in which the following officers were elected: Eric Woodard, President; Joe Hartley, Vice President; Marvin Harding, Secretary; Richard Moore, Treasurer, and Alan Guernsey, Assistant Secretary. Other board members are Rodney Ewing, Dan Lentz, and Adrian Cox.
