Green Castle Man Charged With Five Felonies in Domestic Assault Case
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — A Green Castle man remains in custody after Adair County Prosecuting Attorney David Goring filed five felony charges June 9 alleging multiple acts of domestic assault.
Clark Koesy, 39, of Green Castle, is charged in Adair County Case No. 26AR-CR00431 with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, second-degree domestic assault and two counts of third-degree domestic assault. The charges stem from allegations that occurred on or about June 8 in Adair County, according to the felony complaint.
According to court documents, Koesy allegedly struck a family or household member in the head with a snow shovel, choked the individual, struck the individual in the face with a fist and bit the individual. Prosecutors allege the defendant and the alleged victim are family or household members related by blood. The complaint also alleges the first-degree domestic assault was committed with a dangerous instrument, resulting in the armed criminal action charge.
Court records show a warrant with no bond was issued June 9 and served later that day by the Kirksville Police Department. Koesy appeared for arraignment June 10, requested a public defender application and remains in custody. Public defender Brian Patrick Kelley entered his appearance June 11 and filed a request for discovery.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. June 17 before Associate Judge Kristie Swaim in Adair County.
The felony complaint references an attached probable cause statement; however, that document was not publicly available through Missouri Case. net as of Tuesday. Additional details surrounding the allegations have not been released in the public court file.
Koesy is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
