The Green City R-1 School District is proud to announce a major advancement in early childhood education, following the recent award of the Missouri Quality Pre-K Grant (MOQPK) from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This grant will enable the district to reduce preschool tuition costs dramatically, from $15 per day to just $4.50, a reduction of 70 percent. Families who qualify for free and reduced lunch will pay $3 and $2.40 respectively.
The grant will support an additional Pre-K classrooms for the 2024-2025 school year: One of the classrooms will have 20 spots and another with 10 spots. This expansion ensures that all 4-year-olds in the Green City R-1 district will have access to quality early education and be well-prepared for kindergarten.
In addition to the MOQPK grant, the district has also received a $5,000 Child Care Enhancement Grant. This funding will be used to purchase essential equipment for the new classroom, further enhancing the educational experience for young learners.
There are still available spots for 4-year-olds for the current school year. Interested parents are encouraged to contact the elementary office at 660-874-4128 for more information.
The Green City R-1 School District remains committed to providing a strong start for its students, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed in their educational journey.
