HARVEY MAX HAVENS
Harvey Max Havens, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 3, 2022.
Harvey was born July 21, 1934 at home in Linn County, Missouri to Ella Mae (Hines) and Henry Hilemon Havens. He spent his youth on a farm outside Browning, MO. He graduated in 1952 from Linn County R-1 Liberty High School. He also completed courses in Aircraft Blueprint Reading at San Diego (California) Junior College in 1957. As a young adult he traveled the country with Luster Lite Company raising prefab buildings.
He was married to Edna Bissette of Iowa, and later divorced.
He was also married to Colleen Sanders of Milan, MO. They divorced.
He later married Cheri Worrell Drury of Kirksville, MO. They have lived the last 42 years in Topeka Kansas where Harvey was a semi-truck driver for Groendyke Corporation. He retired in 2000. He spent his retirement restoring vintage John Deere tractors, mowing lawns, tinkering in his shop and visiting under the shade tree with anyone who stopped by. He also enjoyed connecting with old and new friends on Facebook and waited weekly for the mailman to bring the Milan Standard Newspaper.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Kellogg and Georgeann Britton.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri, three sons, Jim Havens (Debbie), Trenton, MO, Jerry Havens, Browning, MO and Mike Drury (Kim), Galveston, Texas, three daughters, Holly Havens, Lawson, MO, Michelle Emery, Melbourne, Florida and Maxie Eckhart-Havens, (Marcie) Topeka KS. Harvey was most proud of his “kiddos” — 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
His Celebration of Life was held Saturday, October 22nd at 11:00 AM at Family of God Church 1231 NW Eugene, Topeka, Kansas, hosted by Pastor Roger and Lady Lelah Randel. There were stories shared at the celebration.
