The five area schools will begin the 2024-2025 year all on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Milan, Linn County, Newtown- Harris and Grundy R-5 will continue to have the four day week. Green City will continue with the five day.
Milan C-2’s breakfast will be held at 7:15 a.m.to 7:58 a.m. First class will start at 7:45 with the end of the day at 3:34.
The Milan Band Boosters will have a meeting at 5:00 p.m. in the Commons room. The Milan C-2 PTO will sponsor a Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 15th at 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the front parking lot of the school. They will serve free hotdogs and water. “This Is Us” district apparel will be available for purchase. Senior parents will have a meeting at 6:15 p.m. in the High School Gym.
Softball and football
Jamboree will be held on
Friday, August 23rd. Softball will be held 3:00 p.m. and the football at 7:00 p.m.
Alumni Softball game and varsity softball hit-a-thon will be held Saturday, August 24th.
Green City R-1 School will continue the full five days. They will begin on Tuesday, August 20 at 8:10 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. Open House is Thursday, August 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Linn Co. R-1 will begin on Tuesday, August 20 at 8:00 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Breakfast will be served at 7:40 a.m. There will be an open house on Monday, August 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
FFA will provide an appreciation dinner during the Open House from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
There will be an ice cream social sponsored by the PTO with a free will donation.
Newtown-Harris will also begin on Tuesday, August 20 beginning at 7:40 a.m. to 3:32 p.m. and will have a full day. Breakfast will be at 7:15 a.m. Open house will be Friday, August 16th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Grundy County R-V will begin on Tuesday, August 20 with 4 days a week. School hours will be 7:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. for the elementary and 8:00 a.m. to 3:38 p.m. for high school.They will have a Back to School Night on Thursday, August 15th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the elementary building.
Enrollment for high school will be Thursday, August 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Elementary School at Humphreys begins on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Open house will be Wednesday, August 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. School supplies are provided except back packs and gym shoes. If any student needs help with either contact Grundy County Bright Futures at Trenton.
