The Putnam County State Bank donated a skim scanner device to the Milan Police Department.
The device will be used by the department to check local convenience stores, gas pumps, and ATM devices to ensure criminals haven’t inserted a fraudulent skimmer device (debit/ credit card reader) to steal consumer card information when they use ATMS, and gas pumps. Due to the rise of this crime with recent events of two suspects being arrested in nearby Schuyler County, the police department will use this scanner to do random checks of all gas pumps, and ATM’s to help protect citizens’ card information when being used.
