Dabney Earns Sectional Berth For Milan At Class 2 Dist. 3 Meet

SHELBINA, Mo. — Marian Dabney led Milan at the MSHSAA Class 2 District 3 track and field meet Saturday, May 9, at South Shelby High School, earning a sectional berth in the girls shot put.

Dabney placed third in the shot put with a throw of 10.77 meters to advance to sectionals next weekend. The top four finishers in each event qualified. She also posted Milan’s top finishes in two other throwing events, placing sixth in the discus at 33.06 meters and eighth in the javelin at 29.95 meters.

Milan’s boys were led by Kasen Smith on the track. Smith placed ninth in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, finishing the 100 in 12.09 seconds and the 200 in 24.53.

Garen Broyles paced Milan in the boys distance events, placing 17th in the 1,600-meter run in 5:23.68 and 13th in the 3,200 in 12:20.16.
