State Track Qualifiers From Green City R-1
In the relays, the boys 4×200 meter team kept Green city’s momentum rolling, combining for a 2nd place finish in 1:36.22, making them one of the fastest quartets in the section and securing the team’s fifth event heading to state. Running in the relay were: Orion Navis, Preston Balfany, Thaydon Forest and Elliott York.
On the girls’ side, Lily Crist delivered a clutch performance in the shot put, throwing 9.36 meters to secure 2nd place and a well-earned ticket to Jefferson City. Crist’s throw was a personal highlight in an event where the top four battled tightly for qualifying spots.
The boys made their mark on the track and in the field. Orion Navis, on right, qualified in two hurdle events, placing 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles, 42.11 and grabbing the final state spot with a 4th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles 16.55. Navis’ performances were a mix of explosive starts and smart race management, as he held off challengers in both events.

Elliott York will also represent Green City at state after a gritty run in the 400 meters, finishing 4th with a time of 53.84 seconds. is closing speed in the final stretch proved just enough to punch his ticket.
Green City High School is headed to the MSHSAA Class 1 State Championships in five events following a determined showing at Saturday, May 17, 2025 Sectional 2 meet hosted by the Montgomery County High School. With a mix of power, poise, and precision, the Gophers came through when it mattered most, earning state qualifications in both individual and relay events.
Participating in the sectionals but not advancing to state were: Macy Jeffries, 400 meter dash, 7th place. Elliott York, 100 meter dash, 7 place. 4×100 meter relay, 5th place. Ty Hall, high jump, 8th place. Triple jump, Preston Balfany, 6th place. Jake Crist, 300 meter, 8th place.
Ty Hall received 8th place, 1.75m in the high jump. He did not advance on to state.
Tristin Harrison, picture not available, added a standout field event performance by placing 2nd in the pole vault, clearing 3.50 meters to secure another state berth for the Gophers.
