Interim Public Administrator Sworn-In to Office

By Echo Menges MILAN, Mo. — The Sullivan County Commission has appointed Ashley Hoselton as interim public administrator following the retirement of Joan Brummitt, who previously held the position and was arrested last year on allegations of financial misconduct. Hoselton was sworn in during a brief ceremony at the Sullivan County Courthouse. She will serve in the role until the Missouri governor decides whether to appoint a replacement or include the office in an upcoming election. Trooper Injured, One Dead and Several Hurt in Head-On Crash Near Green City

By Echo Menges GREEN CITY, Mo. — A Missouri state trooper was seriously injured and a Milan woman was killed Monday morning in a head-on crash east of Green City that left several others hospitalized, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The crash happened at 7:20 a.m. on Missouri Highway 6, about 1.5 miles east of Green City. Investigators said a 2006 Toyota Tundra traveling eastbound crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2023 Dodge Charger — a patrol vehicle — head-on. The 65th Annual Milan Invitational Basketball Tournament began, featuring teams from across the region. Verimore Bank donated $12,500 to support the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Community Raises More Than $15K for Milan Senior Center

MILAN, Mo. — The Sullivan County Senior Center received a significant boost this December as three local fundraising efforts brought in a combined total of $15,291 to support programs and services for older adults. The donations were presented on Friday, Dec. 19, by the Milan Elks Lodge and the Milan Chamber of Commerce.
