EWING LEE DEAN
Ewing Lee Dean, 89 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
Ewing was born August 21, 1931 to Vernie and Florence (Ewing) Dean in Mercer County, Missouri and was part of the Princeton area. He was an only child. He went to country school at Princeton until his father passed away in 1945. He and his mother moved to Kirksville that same year. He graduated from 12th grade in Kirksville in 1950.
After graduation Ewing worked part time jobs until he joined the U.S. Navy and went to Hawaii for radio schooling. He was assigned to the ship USS at Pine Island and spent approximately two years on the ship and saw parts of the world, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan, Guam and Hawaii. He spent two years in Guam.
After being discharged from the Navy he returned to Kirksville and married Louise Jennings in June of 1958.
He worked for Burdman Auto Parts for approximately five years. Ewing did carpenter work in the LaPlata area. He also worked for Hollister Manufacturing in Kirksville from 1969 to 1986 and then retired.
He and Louise traveled for twenty years by themselves and with the NEMO Car Club. He ended up going back to work delivering parts for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Store for about ten years and then retired again.
Ewing is survived by his wife, Louise of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation wzs held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 with the funeral service held at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle- Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial was in the Shatto Cemetery in Milan, Missouri.
