OLIVE KAY MORRIS
Olive Kay Morris, 95, of Milan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Kirksville Manor Care in Kirksville, Missouri.
Kay was born on April 10, 1931, to Billie and Olive (Hoselton) Martin near Winigan, Missouri. She grew up in Winigan, graduating from Green City High School in 1949. She then earned an associate’s degree from Trenton Junior College in Trenton, Missouri. She started teaching at a rural school, where she rode her horse to and from school. Kay then worked at Milan Head Start from 1967 until she retired after 33 years of teaching.
On June 8, 1951, she married Delbert Morris who preceded her in death in 2013.
Kay is survived by three children; Joan (Rodney) Wright of Winigan, Dale (Jackie) Morris of Milan, and John (Shelly) Morris of Macon, Missouri, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, one brother; Gail (Helen) Martin of Winigan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband Delbert; a granddaughter, Rebekah Michelena; brother, Billie Von Martin; sisters, Fannie Blanche Martin and Joy Lea Barton.
She attended the church community in Winigan. She enjoyed sewing, painting and drawing. Kay also hand-made porcelain dolls, including sewing the dolls clothes. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish and tend to her flowers and garden. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and most of all loved spending time with her family.
A funeral service for Kay was held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri with David Tharp officiating. Burial followed at Baker Cemetery southwest of Green City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Baker Cemetery.
