BILLIE L. SCHOONOVER
Billie L. Schoonover “Hooey” of Callender, Iowa, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City.
Billie L. Schoonover was born January 9, 1930 at Pollock, Missouri, the son of George and Helen (Schnelle) Schoonover. He graduated from Milan High School in Milan, Missouri.
Billie was united in marriage to Ruth Eckman on July 30, 1952 at Harrison, Arkansas. They lived in Milan and Winigan Missouri until moving to Fort Dodge in 1962. Billie was employed at Kalo Brick & Tile Co. and retired from the Georgia-Pacific Gypsum Co. He loved woodworking, fishing, and quilting.
Billie is survived by his son William G. (Karon) Schoonover of Paullina, Iowa; Billie Starlene (Randy) Ness of Callender, Iowa; grandchildren, Joshua (Annie) Schoonover, Emilee Schuck, Alexandria (Jeff) Pommer, Betsy (Nick) Bement, and Brandon, Naomi, and Ryan Kliegl; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth; her parents; son Stevin Schoonover; his parents, George and Helen (Schnelle) Schoonover; and sister Linda Kaye Anderson.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, with Pastor Greg Stano and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Graveside Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at Lemons Cemetery in Lemons, Missouri. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender.
