LARRY ALLEN SOMERS
Larry Allen Somers, 71, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 10th 2021 at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital.
Larry was born on October 15, 1949, to Harold and Esther (Crownshaw) Somers in Santa Monica, California.
On August 15, 1969, he married Sandra Jean Lango in Waterbury, Connecticut and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2020.
Larry is survived by one son Scott (Stephanie) Somers of Milan, Missouri, and one daughter Tina (Steven) Pelletier of Killeen, Texas. He had eight grandchildren Chad Bard, Ashley Somers, Anthony Pelletier, Jacob Somers, Jordan Pelletier, Piper Pelletier, Scottiana Pelletier, Lorleai Pelletier and a great grandchild Tahalia Grace Treadaway. He had two brothers, Pete Somers of Maine and Jim Somers of Connecticut.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Larry and Sandra spent most of their lives living in Connecticut until moving to Green City in February of 2020. During his working years, he was a shop foreman for IntraSonics, Inc. where he oversaw the waveguide bending operations. He retired from Sears several years ago after being a repairman for them.
One of Larry’s greatest joys was being in his woodshop and creating beautiful pieces of furniture and household items. He enjoyed building model cars. He loved to read about history and taught himself trigonometry. Larry was also an avid baker and enjoyed making different types of breads and experimenting with recipes in the kitchen. Larry was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan even though he was surrounded by a family of Yankees fans.
Larry’s wishes were to be cremated. A service will be held at a later date. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan is handling arrangements.
