KAREN SUE COOPER DEVORE

Karen Sue (Cooper) DeVore passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, at the age of 79.

Karen was born the fourth of six children, August 2, 1941, on the family farm south of Humphreys, Missouri, to Harold D Cooper and Dorothy Mae (Phillips) Cooper.

She was united in marriage to Dorence Alva DeVore on April 9,1960 at the Mt. Zion Church in Humphreys, Missouri.

Karen retired after thirty-three years of service as the Associate Circuit Court Clerk for Linn County on July 29,2011. She continued to live on the farm until moving in 2017 to Warrensburg, Missouri to be closer to family.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Browning, Missouri where she and Dorence taught Sunday School and were active members for many years. Karen shared and lived out her faith in many ways that have touched us all.

She enjoyed the opportunity to go fishing and loved to read or watch a good western. She was always up to date on current events, trends, and technology. She had many hidden talents like drawing, and teaching herself how to play the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica by ear. She loved watching sports of all kinds but especially basketball, football, and baseball. Karen looked forward to visiting with friends and family on the phone through texts and face time. She was a role model of faith, strength, and love for all of us. Her quick wit and humor will be greatly missed.
