 HUBERT GENE PFEIFFER 

Hubert Gene Pfeiffer, 90, of Winigan, Missouri, died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home. 

Hubert was born July, 17, 1933 in rural Cora, Missouri, to Clarence and Alta (Linhart) Pfeiffer. 

On December 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Sharon (Riley) Pfeiffer. To this union were born two children, David Gene and Deborah Joan. 

Hubert graduated from Green City R-1 High School in 1950. Following graduation, he worked at MFA in Green City, then worked for J.I. Case in Bettendorf, IA. He then served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 in Japan during the Korean Conflict. After returning from the Armed Services, Hubert farmed and later worked in Construction, building several new homes in the area. 

He was an active member of his community. He was a member of the American Legion Post 274 of Browning, Mo., the Winigan Community Board, the Green City School Board and served for 34 years as a Director of the Northeast MO Rural Telephone Board (NEMR), retiring in July 2020. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of WInigan where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and church trustee. 

Hubert loved to play softball, playing for teams in the area. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their sporting pursuits. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. 

Hubert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sharon, a son, David and wife Chris; a daughter Deborah O’Connor and husband William (Bill); Six grandchildren; Angie James and husband Josh; Kristin Mayson and husband Rich; Kimberly Kent and husband Chet; Nick Pfieffer and wife Megan; Megan Carter and husband Paul; and Kevin O’Conner. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, as well as a brother-in-law John Riley, sisters-in-law Naomi (Riley) Williams and Reta Riley. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and wife Mary, Harry Lee and wife Margaret, brothers-in-law William (Bill) Riley, Frank Williams and sister-in-law Pat Riley. 

A funeral service for Hubert will be held at 3:00 PM, on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Winigan, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday December 28, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral home in Green City, Missouri
