Waneta Margaret Frazer, 89, of Columbia, Missouri transitioned to her heavenly home on February 23, 2024 after a brief illness. 

Waneta was born at the family farm east of Milan on February 14, 1935, the fifth of the six children of Clifford and Lystel Frazer. 

She is survived by her daughter Linda Cannon of Columbia, three bonus daughters, Jane Nassano, Phoenix, Arizona, Kathleen (Ward) Rakestraw Kay, Washington, DC, and Diane (John) Pletcher, Kansas City, and four grandchildren. 

She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Emerson, Abilene, Texas, and Mary Anthony, St. Louis; her brother-in-law, Gary Hostetter, Milan; a cousin, June Jacobs of Lee’s Summit, as well as a close extended family of nieces, nephews, and their families. 

Waneta was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Mary Frazer; siblings and spouses, Corrine and Earl Young, Harold and Jean Frazer, Tom Anthony, and Barbara Hostetter; and a niece, Janet Hostetter. 

Waneta’s formal education began at age 4 at the Oak Grove country school. She graduated from Milan High School Class of 1951, Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, and she received her master’s degree in family economics from the University of Missouri- Columbia. Waneta was a home economics teacher in Green City and Chillicothe, and worked many years for the University Extension from which she retired. 

Her spiritual education began with her parents and in the Milan Church of Christ. Waneta was baptized as a teenager and found a church home wherever she lived. 

A celebration of life was held February 29 at Forum Christian Church in Columbia.
