Many of the players Coach Schnelle coached went on to become collegiate athletes at various levels. Coach Schnelle also coached Varsity Track, Junior High Basketball, Varsity Girls Basketball, and Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball. Coach spent 30 years teaching at Milan C-2 in PE, Health, and as the Counselor. He has served as the Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, and Director of Special Programs. Coach always says he was blessed with good players, assistant coaches, and a little luck along the way and credits each of these as the contributing factors that made him a successful Head Coach.
Brad May
Milan C-2 High School (‘80- ’84)
University of Missouri (‘84- ’89)
Brad was a great all-round athlete, in his Junior Year of High School at Milan C-2, he was named 2nd Team All-Conference running back for football and led the team to the state playoff quarterfinal game. He was also named All-Conference in basketball and was a part of the District Championship track team.
During his Senior Year, he was named first team All- Conference, All-District, and All- State defensive end. He led the team to a Tri-Rivers Conference Tri-Championship. Later that year, he was named All- Conference and All-District in basketball.
As a senior, he was a member of the Track team that brought home a Conference and District Championship. He competed at state track in the 4X100, 4X200, 4X400 and shotput. He placed 5th in state in the 4X200. Beyond being a great athlete, Brad was also a great student and managed to graduate first in his class as Valedictorian.
Brad started his time in college as a preferred walk-on for the football team at the University of Missouri. After two years, he received a full-ride scholarship and was a 3-year letterman. He was named 2nd Team outside linebacker his junior and senior years at Mizzou.
1987: Brad made his first career appearance in Lincoln, Nebraska against Nebraska on the kickoff return team.
1989: He played the number 1-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers and served on special teams. The MU Tigers received a standing ovation for the near upset of the Huskers.
He was named to the Academic All-Big 8 Conference Honor Roll in both his junior and senior year. Brad graduated with honors from the MU School of Business with a major in Finance.
Chris Ryan
Milan High School (‘93- ’97)
University of Missouri (‘97- ’02)
Chris was a member of the 1993 State Championship Football Team. During his time as a football player at Milan, we was named All – Conference and All-District as an Offensive Lineman for multiple years and was named a Class IA All- State Football Player in 1996.
1999: Made his first career appearance in the Texas A &M game.
1998: Named the defensive scout team “Player of the Week” vs Iowa State
While in High School, Chris committed early to be a Missouri Tiger even before making a campus visit. During his time at Milan, he worked hard and earned varsity letters in basketball, track, and baseball in addition to his football letter. He achieved many postseason recognitions in his other sports as well, including: All- Conference and All- District in basketball his senior year. At the State Track Meet in 1996 he placed fifth in the discus. During his career at Missouri, in 2000 he moved to the defensive side of the ball and saw playing time at nose tackle. He played in eight games for the Tigers and had collected several tackles for his personal stats.
