FFA Members, Teams Vie for Selection to Compete in 2025 National FFA Agriscience Fair
Samuel Alvarez and Ethan Pearce of the Milan FFA chapter have been named finalists this year in the Social Sciences category in the Division IV of the National FFA Agriscience Fair. The team placed first in their division in April at the Missouri FFA state competition. Alvarez and Pearce researched traditional versus alternative first year agricultural education teachers. The team will find out their final placing at National FFA Convention in October.
The National FFA Agriscience Fair is a key competition that is part of the annual National FFA Convention & Expo, Oct. 29- Nov. 1, 2025, in Indianapolis. To qualify, FFA members working as individuals or teams in grades 7 through 12 are required to conduct a scientific research project pertaining to the agriculture or food science industries and win their state’s FFA agriscience fair.
Individuals or teams compete in one of six categories – animal systems; environmental services/natural resource systems; food products and processing systems; plant systems; power, structural and technical systems; or social science – in six divisions – individuals in grades 7-8, teams grades 7-8, individuals grades 9-10, teams grades 9-10, individuals in grades 11-12, and teams grades 11-12.
FFA Members Vie for Selection to Compete in 2025 National FFA Agricultural Proficiency Awards
Destiny De Leon of the Milan FFA chapter has been named a national finalist this year for the Diversified Horticulture Agricultural Proficiency Award. Only four FFA members nationwide are selected as national finalists in each agricultural proficiency award area. De Leon’s SAE includes working at Northern Blooms and the Milan C2 Greenhouse.
Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers. Students compete in areas ranging from agricultural communications to wildlife management. Proficiency awards are also recognized at local and state levels and provide recognition to members exploring and becoming established in agricultural career pathways.
The National FFA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 1,042,245 student members as part of 9,407 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
