BEVERLY ANN (GRICE) FIELDS
Beverly Ann (Grice) Fields, of Galt, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where she had been a resident for the past three and a half months. She was 9 days shy of her 83rd birthday.
Beverly was born November 29, 1942, at her grandmother Becky’s home south of Milan, Missouri, the daughter of Mildred Edna (Gramling) Hughes and Adlaie Nelson Grice.
She attended schools in Iowa, Chillicothe, and Milan, Missouri, but did not earn her GED until in her 40s – an accomplishment she was most proud of.
Beverly was a hard worker her entire life. She worked on the family farm south of Humphreys while married to Wendell Fields, often times being told she could outwork any of the hired farmhands. She also worked on the cutting floor at Banquet Foods in Milan, drove a semi over-the-road coast-to-coast and later as a flex-driver for Premium Standard Farms in Milan. Beverly began raising dogs while on the farm and continued this passion for many years until her health required her to stop.
Beverly was a member of the Galt Christian Church, the Garden Club, and served on the Sullivan County Historical Society and Museum Board. Through these communities, Beverly found joy, purpose, and lasting friendships.
Beverly is survived by her son, Hank Fields of Humphreys; two daughters, Jeanie (Tad) Griffin and June (Donnie) Brandstetter of Trenton; grandchildren Nevada (Brett) Fields, Wyatt (Sasha) Fields, JaNea Whitney, Jordan (Abbey) Whitney, Jadan (Lexi) Whitney, Jaren Whitney, Trevin Houghtling, Jessica Fountain, David Jennings; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces Robin (Jerry) Smith, Missy (Jeff) Dennis, Beth Ann Ingle-Fanna and nephew Steven Eller.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather Eza Jr. Hughes, daughter Tammy Fields- Houghtling, sister Betty Ingle-Bessire, and grandson Jeremy Hughes.
A memorial service will be held on her birthday, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Galt Christian Church.
Memorials are suggested to the church and can be left with or mailed to Slater Neal Funeral Home of Trenton.
