Milan C-2 Board Approves Summer School, Salary Increases
Multiple staffing schedules updated; safety plan adopted
MILAN, Mo. — The Milan C-2 Board of Education approved summer school plans, adopted a new emergency response protocol and updated multiple salary schedules during its regular meeting March 25.
The board approved all items under new business unanimously.
Summer school set for May–June
The board approved plans for the 2026 summer school session, which will run 16 student attendance days from May 19 through June 12.
Program details include a field trip to Chilli Bay and attendance-based incentives for students. The proposal was presented by ELL instructor Mary Jo Sawyer.
“Stop the Bleed” plan adopted
Board members approved a districtwide traumatic blood loss response plan, required under Missouri law through SB68.
The plan follows guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and outlines protocols for training, policy development and bleeding control kits. District nurse Mosley developed the plan for Milan C-2.
Certified salaries increase to meet state law
The board approved the 2026–27 certified salary schedule, including an increase in base teacher pay to $41,000.
The adjustment aligns with SB 727 requirements, which also set minimum salaries for teachers with master’s degrees and at least 10 years of experience at $47,000 for the upcoming school year, rising to $48,000 by 2027– 28.
Extra duty pay adjustments approved
The updated extra duty salary schedule includes a base increase tied to certified staff pay, a step increase for all eligible staff and a 1% increase across categories.
Experience pay will increase by 10%. Coaches may also receive $100 per day for up to 20 Missouri State High School Activities Association contact days, allowing for a maximum of $2,000 in summer compensation.
Non-certified staff receive raises
Board members also approved updates to the non-certified salary schedule, increasing base pay across all categories and adding a step increase for employees.
Other business
In additional action, the board:
Approved February regular and executive session minutes.
Approved the February financial statement.
Authorized payment of bills, with two abstentions.
Accepted reports on district programs, academics and activities.
The board also received a thank-you card from the family of B.R. Richardson in citizen communications.
