Alfred grew up in Sullivan County graduating from Milan C-II High School. He worked at General Motors in Kansas City, then transferred to GM in Denver, Colorado and retired in 1987. Alfred and Jean then moved back to Missouri and kept a small home in Colorado so they could spend time with family in both places. They often spent time in Arizona in the winter.

Alfred and Jean were kind and giving people. They often opened their home to family and friends who were moving to the area or just needed a place to stay for a while. They even hosted an exchange student from Finland in 1986. One of Alfred’s favorite things to do was elk hunting in the mountains. He also liked to buy and sell things, especially cars.

Alfred was buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
