MARY ALICE FRAZIER

Mary Alice Frazier, 71 years old, of Browning, Missouri, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer in the comfort of her brother’s home in Green City, MO. on Friday, June 11, 2021.

She was born February 11, 1950 in Milan to Charles Eugene and Eunice Beatrice (Jackson) Hatcher, they preceded her in death. She was also preceded by: a husband, Philip McDonald; siblings, Donald “Jesso” Hatcher, Billy Hatcher, Leon Hatcher, Charlene McDonald, Nancy Eddy, Annalee Hill, Donnie Hatcher, a brother in infancy; and an infant son, Robert Franklin McDonald.

Mary was raised the youngest daughter of a large family in Gilltown and she was very proud of that. She attended Milan C-2 Schools through the 9th grade. In January of 1967, she was united in marriage to Phillip McDonald, in Milan, and to this union came Peggy Jean, Robert Franklin, Donald Glen and Christina Louise McDonald. During their 17 years of marriage they lived in several places in Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma. Although their marriage ended, Mary Alice loved Phillip immensely all her life and they continued a very close friendship until his passing in December 2001.

Mary worked several jobs in the nursing field, but eventually made a career out of doing what she loved, “Cooking for a Crowd”. She was famous in this town for her cooking-especially her fried chicken. She cooked in several restaurants including Riedl’s, Gimpys, The Paradox, and The Sale Barn Café, often working side by side with her family and very dear friends. She retired from The Uptown Café, in Milan, which she operated with Jeannie, in 2014.

Mary led a very exciting life, she was a great storyteller, and she had some great stories to tell. She had the privilege of traveling to the lower 48 states by way of semi and car. She loved Elvis. Her collection of Elvis memorabilia was one of her most treasured possessions. She enjoyed gardening and she personally hunted, picked out and placed every rock in her Rock Garden. She was a great singer, and you could find her many nights behind the microphone of any local Karaoke Bar. Her greatest joy was her 3 children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

Mary Alice is survived by: children, Peggy (Jeannie) Johnson of Chillicothe, Donald McDonald (Tracy McConkey) of Milan, and Chris McDonald (Billy Morris) of Browning; grandchildren, Zanna Durbin (Dean), John Johnson, Blake McDonald (Janna), Bryce McDonald(Kayla), Brooke McDonald (Robert), Bethany McDonald (Jacobi), Brayden McDonald, Brock McDonald, Colton Oxendale, Drake Oxendale, Mariah Oxendale (Sam), Kalib Havens (Harley), and Riley McDonald; great grandchildren, Jaaron, Jayse, Josh, Alexander, Austin, and Amber Durbin, Zayden, Damon, Styles, and Allison McDonald, Landon, Calvin, Liam, and Payton McDonald, Aubri Carmack, Tobias Keller, Greyson Havens, Aliyah Henderson and two on the way; Her Little Brother, Marion “Bubby” Hatcher (Diane) of Green City; sisters-in-law, Barb Hatcher of Milan, Lucille Hatcher of Green City, Tina Hatcher of Carrolton, and Bonnie Crist of Braymer, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Jerry McDonald and wife Pam of Liscomb, Iowa and Jack McDonald of Humphreys; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mary will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, Friday, June 18, 2021 at Schoene- Ruschmeier Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 3:00 PM.
