BARBARA ANN LAWS

Barbara Ann Laws, 79, of Perry. Barbara died Sunday, September 19, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Barbara Ann (Lavelle) Laws, daughter of John Joseph Lavelle and Catherine May Handy Lavelle, was born November 13, 1941 in Milan, Missouri.

Barb lived in Milan growing up. She graduated from Milan High School in 1959. After that Barb went to St Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing and then Stephen F Austin State University where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in September 8, 1962.

Barb and Grady Mack Laws were united in marriage on February 19, 1966. The couple was blessed with three children: Karla, John, and Christopher. Barb and her family lived in Texas before moving to Perry in 1986 and making it their forever home. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and loved traveling. The family would get together every Sunday for dinner until Grady passed away in 2003. Barb loved her family especially her precious grandchildren. She was always there if any of them needed anything. Barb was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Regina Guild in Perry.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Catherine Lavelle, and her beloved husband Grady in 2003.

Barb is survived by her children: Karla Laws Schuiteman of Des Moines, John Laws (fiancé Mel Rivas) of Des Moines, and Chris Laws (Abbie) of Bagley; her grandchildren: Krystal Schuiteman, Justin Skaggs, Austin Skaggs, Amber Laws, Garrett Laws, Gage Laws, Ayden Laws, Taylen Laws, Calysta Laws, Samantha Laws, Mackenna Laws, Rhylan Agan, Gibson Rivas, Hammer Rivas, and Ozzy Rivas; her two great-grandsons: Saige Skaggs, and Mateo Skaggs; her sister Carol Marie Irmanger (Jim) of Kearney, MO; her brother Joseph Lavelle (Larna) of Columbia, MO; her nieces: Ashley Dolan (Chris) of Milan, MO, Christy Nichols (Trent) of Liberty, MO, and Denise Music (Jack) of Louisiana; her nephews: Kirk Lavelle (Jennifer) of Kearney, MO, and Shane Fleshman (Kristy) of Kearney, MO; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Mass was at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Graveside Services were held 12:00 p.m. noon on Wednesday September 29, 2021 at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Milan, Missouri.
