BARBARA JOAN (LAFAVER) MUIR
Barbara Joan (LaFaver) Muir, 88 years old, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at North Kansas City Hospice House.
Barbara was born October 6, 1932, in Green City, Missouri to Rex and Clio (Cox) LaFaver.
On January 11, 1953, she married J.D. Muir, he passed away in 2004.
She was also preceded in death by: her parents; one daughter, Kim Gorman; and one son, Derek Muir.
Barbara is survived by: one daughter, Kathi Olivas and husband Frank of Blue Springs, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Sauer-Robinson and husband Geoff, Nicole Peoples and husband David, Michael Gorman, and Logan Gorman; 6 great grandchildren, Jack Robinson, Eva Robinson, Isabella Peoples, Mack Peoples, Ace Peoples, and Nicholas Gorman.
Barbara grew up in Green City, graduating from Green City High School in 1950. She attended Kirksville State Teachers College where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and Alpha Phi Sigma sororities. After marrying J.D., they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, while he served in the Air Force. They returned to Blue Springs in 1959 where Barbara worked for several years at the Blue Springs School District and then for many years as bank teller at the Blue Springs Bank. In 1994 they returned to Green Castle. Barbara was an avid reader, enjoyed going shopping, and loved spending time with her family.
A private burial will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City, Missouri, under the direction of Ruschmeier Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Green City Children’s Library.
