WILMA LEA (MAGGART) CARTER

Wilma Lea (Maggart) Carter passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2022 at the Morningstar Assisted Livinging in West Des Moines, Iowa.

She was born September 9, 1929 near Cora, Missouri, the daughter of Grover Edward and Bertha Chloe (Head) Maggart.

Wilma and her twin sister, Thelma graduated from Milan High School in the class of 1947.

She married Albert Carter who survives. To this union was born a son, Roger Albert Carter, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her son Roger Al, sisters and brother-in-law, Thelma (Lee) Kraft and Velma Jean (Haskell) Foster. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Byron (Geraldine) Maggart, Edward (Opal) Maggart and Harley (Zelda) Maggart.

Survivors besides her husband include nieces Janice Kay Maggart, Linda Durham and nephews Kevin (Rebecca) Gooch, all of Kirksville, Missouri, Roger Maggart of Colorado, Steve (Linda) Maggart, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gerry (Glenda) Foster, Jefferson City, Missouri, and Max (Marjorie) Gooch of Browning, Missouri, and many other family members and friends.

Wilma worked for the Des Moines School district for many years.

Graveside services were held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the Blair Chapel Cemetery in St. Charles, Iowa.
