JAMES HOLLIE (JIM) FAIRLEY

James Hollie (Jim) Fairley passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2022, in Denver, Colorado. He was 80.

He was born on May 9, 1942, to D.G. “Red” and Vivian Maude Fairley in Sullivan County, Missouri. He graduated from Milan High School in 1960. He earned a degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1964. He worked for accounting firms and was in private practice at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his brother, Dick Fairley; his children, Susan Harris, Sharon Jenks, Steve Fairley, Stewart Fairley, and Sam Prag; his former wife, Miki Fairley; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jerry Hamilton Fairley of Milan, Missouri.

Jim, along with Linda Maxwell, his domestic partner of more than 30 years, enjoyed music, cooking, politics, their spiritual community at Unity Spiritual Center of Denver, and were voracious readers and animal lovers. Both will be remembered for their cheerful disposition and enjoyment of life.

Linda was born to Robert and Virginia (Lacy) Lenny on June 12, 1948, and preceded Jim in death on March 31, 2022. Linda’s family also had ties to Sullivan County.

The family is planning a memorial service for Jim and Linda on Saturday, January 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Unity Spiritual Center of Denver.
