 JAN FEEHAN 

Jan Feehan, 77 of Oskaloosa passed away Sunday evening, May 14, 2023 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. 

Janiece Irene Feehan was born on December 5, 1945 to Herbert and Mildred Hicks Peterson at Monmouth, Illinois. 

She attended and graduated from Aledo High School and Oak Park Academy Boarding School in Oak Park, Illinois. Jan worked at The Moline Dispatch in advertising in Moline before marrying Raymond (Larry) Speckhart who passed away in an auto accident a year after their marriage. 

She then married Tom Nelson and became the step-mother to Tom and Tony. Jan worked in the sheriff’s office in Aledo, Il. as a dispatcher, jailer and EMT. She loved her EMT work and took the class twice to keep current. 

Later, Jan married Allan Feehan and worked as a Legal Secretary and after he retired, they moved to Missouri to be closer to Allan’s friends. Jan became an Executive Administrative Secretary for the Sullivan Memorial Hospital in Milan, MO. After Allan passed away, Jan moved to Oskaloosa to be closer to her family. She then met Ron Allgood and they became great companions. They enjoyed traveling, horses, harness racing, and her two dogs, Skeezix and Muffin. She also loved to dance, go out to eat, socializing, music and collecting cookbooks. Jan was a member of the Iowa Harness Horseman’s Association, the Legion and the Elks. She loved her family and enjoyed her nieces and nephews. 

Jan is survived by her sister, Joanne Day of Oskaloosa; her sister-in-law, Lindy Peterson of New Sharon; her step-sons, Tom (Wanda) Nelson and Tony Nelson; her nieces, Teresa Day of Oskaloosa and Amy (Eric) Stout of Oskaloosa; her nephews, Michael (Staci Blanke) Peterson of New Sharon and Jim (Alyssa) Day of Tipton; her great nephews, Dawson, Hunter, Jaylin, Grayson, Trey, Trevon, and Talon; her special companion, Ron Allgood; and many other relatives and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jon Peterson; her husbands, Raymond (Larry) Speckhart and Allan Feehan; and her brother-in-law, James Day. 

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, May 19, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, beginning at noon with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. 

Memorials may be directed to MHP Hospice or the Stephens Animal Shelter. Holland- Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
