JOYCE LUCILLE BRANTNER
Joyce Lucille Brantner was born on September 5, 1937 in Browning, Missouri, to Erman and Lavenia (Linhart) Brantner. She was welcomed into the family by her older brother Richard. Lucille entered into eternal peace on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa with her loving son by her side.
Lucille was raised in the Browning community. She was a graduate of Linn County High School, and later went on to business school. She played on a traveling women’s basketball team in her younger days. During her working years she held positions at the Amvets Club, Lakes Nurseries and was a dedicated office manager for UBC for over 35 years. Many customers can still remember her answering the phone “UBC, Lucille.” A sweet memory indeed!
One of Lucille’s greatest accomplishments would be in raising her son, Jon Eric. She taught him the value of hard work and persistence. He has lovingly cared for her in his home for the past two years. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing solitaire and working in her yard. Lucille was also a founding member of the Shenandoah Eagles #3849. Lucille will forever be remembered for the quiet and simple life she lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard.
Those left to honor her memory include her son Jon Eric Brantner; special friend Raymond Eastman; nephews Roger and Michael Brantner; niece Debbie Brantner; other relatives and friends.
A gathering to celebrate her life was held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Shenandoah Eagles Club at 2:00 p.m. A private family burial was held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
