BETTY JOLENE JACKSON
Betty Jolene Jackson, age 83, of Green Castle, MO passed away on Thursday evening, August 3, 2023, at her home in Green Castle.
Jolene was born February 16, 1940, in Kirksville, MO the daughter of Nile Earl and Josephine Bell (Yoakum) Wood.
At the age of 6 the family moved to Arizona where they lived for three years until the death of her mother in December of 1949. When her mother passed away in 1949 Jolene went to make her home with her mother’s sister and her husband, Van and Lorene VanWye.
She graduated from the Green City High School with the class of 1958. She then attended Dover Beauty College and began her career as a Licensed Hairdresser in 1961.
In 1987 Jolene was united in marriage to Arthur “Dwayne” Jackson. In 1991 the couple purchased what was known as DJ’s Bar. Dwayne passed away in 1994 and Jolene continued to operate the business until she sold it in 2002. She also ran a beauty shop from her home from 1968-1987.
Jolene is survived by her daughters; Teri (Jerry) Snyder of Green Castle, Tina Coursey of Green Castle, her grandchildren; Jade, Colton and Thane Snyder, Brian and Bradley Coursey, her great-grandchildren; Sammy and Riley Snyder and Finnley Throckmorton along with Curtis VanWye, Joy VanWye, Bob Garrett, and Scott (Robin) VanWye whom she considered to be her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle VanWye, her husband Duane, cousins; Leon VanWye, and Vicky VanWye and Linda Van Wye whom she considered to be her sister-in-law along with a very special friend Dale Hardy.
Graveside funeral services were held on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 2:00 p,m. at the Green Castle Cemetery. Burial followed the services. A visitation was held on Monday from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Casady-Luscan Funeral Solutions in Green Castle. The family received friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
