PAUL EUGENE KIMMEL
Paul Eugene Kimmel, 77 years old, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 surrounded by his family at his home.
He was born on December 7, 1945, on the family farm in Mystic, Missouri to Lloyd and Ruth Geraldine (Ammerman) Kimmel.
Paul married the love of his life, JoNell (Jody) Probasco on September 18, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Unionville, Missouri.
Paul is survived by his wife JoNell (Jody) of 59 years; his children, Jana Couch and husband Clay of Green City, Michael Kimmel and wife Dana of LaPlata, Missouri, Jeffery Kimmel of The Lake of the Ozarks, and Gayla Kent and husband Tyler of Kirksville, Missouri; Grandchildren, Makenzie (Cody) Brundage, Trinity Couch (Logan), Lindsey Kimmel, Cassie Rodriguez (Jake), Morgan Hirner (Jake), Masen Kimmel, Hallie Kimmel, Ella Kent, Kyle Kent, and Kail Kent; 6 Great Grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Parrish and husband Roger of O’Fallon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Nancy Probasco; sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Judy Sayre; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Kyle Kimmel; a niece, Trudy McClanahan; his mother and father-in-law, Edgar and Mildred Probasco; and two brothers-in-law.
Paul graduated from Green City R-I in the Class of 1963. He had just celebrated his 60th class reunion and he always enjoyed those class reunions. Paul took over the family farm in 1993 and lived there until moving to town in 2021 after selling the farm to his grandson, Masen Kimmel. The farm was a Century Farm and Paul was very proud that the farm has always stayed in the family since 1870.
Paul also worked for MO-DOT for 37 years, retiring in 2000 after making numerous lifelong friends. He then worked at Green City R-I and Milan C-II driving a school bus for several years.
Paul served as the President of the Pleasantville Cemetery Board; he served as a board member for several boards in the community. Paul accepted Christ as his Savior in September 1964. Paul served as Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Green City for several years. He also helped with new additions to the church and served as Sunday School director and was a bus driver at church. Paul served as a board member for the Thousand Hills Baptist Association in Kirksville.
A funeral service for Paul was held Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri. Burial followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, east of Green City.
