Sullivan County Officials Urge Drivers to ‘Buckle Up, Phone Down’

MILAN, Mo. — Sullivan County commissioners have issued a proclamation in support of the 2025 Buckle Up Phone Down challenge, urging residents to prioritize safety on the roads by wearing seat belts and avoiding cell phone use while driving. The proclamation, signed Oct. 28, highlights sobering statistics, including that six out of 10 people killed in Missouri traffic crashes in 2016 were unbuckled, and that crashes involving cell phones have increased 20 percent since 2014.
